You Are One Thought Away From A Different Experience
Today, I want to share a personal story.
It’s about the power of choice — and what it means to experience your life and to lead from the inside out.
A few years ago, we were flying home from a beautiful vacation in Sri Lanka.
Our connecting flight from Dubai was canceled.
We had to stay there for 20 hours.
Now, here’s how the “old me” would’ve reacted:
- “This sucks! I just want to go home.”
- “I have to reschedule so many appointments now — great.”
- “It’s probably a mediocre hotel, at best.”
- “Our bags are locked away at the airport — awesome.”
- “It’s not even a full day… what are we supposed to do with it?”
Sounds familiar?
But here’s what happened - instead:
We said: okay, we’re in Dubai for 20 hours. It is what it is — let’s make the best of it.
+ We explored the city and discovered so much more than we expected.
+ The old part of town? A total gem.
+ The hotel was fine, food and service: amazing.
+ Most tourists pay for that kind of stay — ours was complimentary.
+ Hey, everybody who works with clients here is so amazing, taxi drivers, people in the shop who will even walk you to the nearest ETM - WOW.
+ We got some rest, walked the streets, and met incredible people.
+ The view from the top of Burj Khalifa at sunset? Unforgettable. (Yes — totally worth the VIP ticket)
+ We captured memories. Took great photos.
+ And we found a new place we want to return to.
All of that was a gift.
A 20-hour detour became a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Why?
Because we made a choice
— to enjoy the moment and make the best of it, no matter what.
And that choice made all the difference.

So… what choices are you facing right now?
Your next experience is just one thought, one choice away.
P.S.
On the blog page, there is a photo I took from the top of Burj Khalifa
— the world’s tallest building at 828 meters (2,717 feet).
A view I almost missed.
